The orthophoto is a rectified, georeferenced, corrected image of the Mawson Station Area. Original source images were collected from aerial photography. Distortions due to relief and camera have been removed.
The Mawson Station image mosaic was produced using ERDAS Imagine software. The photography consisted of 2 runs and 3 photos which were: ANTC1021 Run 0 Frame 5 flown on 18/03/1996, and ANTC1100 Run 6 frames 5 and 7 flown on 18/03/2001.
The scanned images were triangulated with ERDAS OrthoBase Pro.
The RMS achieved was 0.15m for X, 0.25 for Y and 0.10m for Z.
Ortho photography was then created using a DTM derived from contours supplied by the Australian Antarctic Data Centre. The images were colour balanced and mosaiced covering the entire Mawson Station area.
