Abstract:
Since 1984, Canadian Forest Service has been collecting data to help monitor
the health of Canada's forests. Data is collected from a large number of
strategically located plots all across Canada. The data collection occurs at
various times. Some parameters are measured more than once a year while others
are only meaured once every five years. The data collected covers a number of
parameters which
... are key in determining forest health. The data detailing the
insects and diseases collected from the plot network is used to support a
number of decision-making functions that ultimately may impact forest policy.
These data are also used in research and to help increase scientific knowledge
of forests, ecosystems, biology, etc.
