The Global Wave Climate Database of Delft Hydraulics uses wave
data to create wave statistics. The data include altimeter data from
the GEOSAT and ERS-1 satellites, ship and buoy observations, and model
output of wave predictions from the U.K. Met. Office global wave model
(Jun 88 - Mar 94). The user inputs an arbitrary
longitude-latitude-time window, and the database fetches all available ... relevant data within the region of interest. Users may apply various
statistical analysis methods on the data. The result is shown in the
form of tables or plots.
The database does not only contain significant wave height data,
but includes 2D-spectra as well. Therefore the analysis can be
extended to other parameters, such as wave direction and wave period.
