Abstract: The Global Oscillation Network Group (GONG) is a network of 6 globally-spaced solar observatories that the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center uses to monitor the sun in near real time. The archived GONG dataset received from SWPC consists of multiple daily H-alpha solar images and solar magnetograms.
Purpose: The NCEI Solar Geophysics Branch (SGB) provides scientific data stewardship of solar-terrestrial datasets in compliance with NOAA Administrative Order (NAO) 212-12, "Management of Environmental and Geospatial Data and Information", dated 04 Nov 10. Scientific Data Stewardship includes the Archive, Access, and Assessment (AAA) of operational and related solar and space environmental datasets.
